When you read the site

• There are no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking cookies.
• Your theme choice (light or dark) is saved in your own browser so the site remembers it. It is not sent to us.
• The route you pick on the globe stays in the page address (for example ?citizenship=in) so you can share or bookmark the rule. We don't store it.

How we count page views

To see which pages are read, a small script of our own tells our server each time a page is opened. For each view the server stores only:

• the site and the page address, without anything after a "?";
• the domain of the page you came from (for example www.google.com), if your browser shares it;
• your country, which our host Vercel looks up from your IP address;
• whether you are on a mobile device or a computer;
• the date and time.

We don't set cookies or keep anything in your browser for this, and we don't store your IP address (not even hashed), your browser's user agent or any ID that could link your visits. The user agent is read only to tell a mobile device from a computer and to leave out known bots. If your browser has Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track turned on, it sends us no page views at all. The counts are kept in our database at Supabase in the United States.

When you report a change

The Report a change form stores:

• the page address or route you report;
• your message, including the official link if you add one;
• your email address, only if you give it, so we can reply;
• a one-way hash of your IP address, used to limit spam. We don't store the address itself.

Reports are stored in a database hosted by Supabase in the United States and are used only to check them against the official source. The editorial team is notified by email when a report arrives; these notifications are sent through our email provider, Resend.

How long we keep reports

We keep reports for 12 months and then delete them. To have your report deleted earlier, email hello@visaalmanac.com.

Emails you send us

Messages sent to hello@visaalmanac.com are stored with our email provider, Resend, and used only to answer you.

Changes to this page

If any of this changes, we will update this page first.
